The saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” is a flat out lie! Let’s face it, words hurt. Words heal.
According to The Word, death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). With that in mind, our words shape our worlds.
We also need to be mindful of the words we speak over and into the lives of others. Even the “strongest” people can be affected by the negative words we speak; words that we may not have even perceived as negative. But that’s it- perception!
The Word also tells us that our words should be used for edification and for building one another up (Ephesians 4:29). This includes matters of correction. Even our Father corrects us in love. He never rips us down in His Word!
Watch your words in every manner of your life; not just what you speak over yourself. Be mindful of what you are sowing into others. Amen!
Many times in the Bible, battles were won because God specifically instructed His people to praise Him. In many of these battles, His people didn’t even have to fight as their praise sent angels to war for them (2 Chronicles 20) and walls fell down as a result (Joshua 6).
Praise is a powerful weapon in our arsenal. It lifts the spirit of heaviness when in the midst of a storm (Isaiah 61:3) and when we pray, we are specifically instructed to pray with supplication and thanksgiving (praise) and as a result, the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and mind (Philippians 4:6-7).
Praise is vital in our lives. We should praise our Father daily, not just when trouble comes. Amen!
